2017 Jeep Compass vs 2016 Jeep Compass
Drivers looking for an affordable, capable and compact crossover have long been attracted by the all-wheel drive options and low starting MSRP of the Jeep Compass. However, for 2017 an all-new model of this same capable crossover has hit the automotive stage. The all-new 2017 Jeep Compass offers more engine power, improved safety features, and a sleek new style. In this 2017 Jeep Compass vs 2016 Jeep Compass comparison, we are going to break down some of the new advantages of this model, and why crossover drivers everywhere should be excited.
The 2016 Jeep Compass was available with a choice of two four-cylinder engine options. However, the top option offered just 172 horsepower and 165 pound-feet of torque. In contrast, the single engine option on the 2017 Jeep Compass is a 2.4-liter four-cylinder that will offer 180 horsepower and 175 pound-feet of torque. This engine on the all-new model will be available mated to a six-speed manual, a six-speed automatic, or a class-exclusive nine-speed automatic transmission. Like the 2016 Jeep Compass, the all-new 2017 model is available with a choice of Jeep 4x4 driving options that deliver off-road performance ranging from excellent to exemplary.

Are there two 2017 Jeep Compass models?
One confusing thing that drivers may notice when comparing the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass vs the 2016 Jeep Compass is that there also seems to be a variant of the 2017 Jeep Compass that is from the previous Compass generation. A few 2017 Jeep Compass vehicles were released in late 2016 that were from that previous style, and so have similar specifications to the 2016 Jeep Compass. However, most of the 2017 Jeep Compass models on our lot here at Fury Motors South St. Paul are from the newest, and most attractive edition.
Other new features that the all-new 2017 Jeep Compass brings to the road (and that can deliver premium value for drivers) include more than 70 available advanced safety and security features (compared to just over 30 on the previous generation), slightly larger maximum cargo space, and an available Trailhawk trim. Equipped with advantages like a taller ride height, skid plates, front and rear tow hooks, and up to 19 inches of water fording, the 2017 Jeep Compass Trailhawk is not just capable off the road, but Trail Rated, which is the highest off-roading honor that Jeep bestows on a vehicle.
